Telecommunications Systems Engineer (Mid-level)
Location:
Crystal City, VA (On-site, 5 days per week)

Description:
LBO Technology is offering a highly motivated and technically skilled Telecommunications Systems Engineer an exciting opportunity to support mission-critical Emergency Management technologies. This is junior to mid-level position offering a unique opportunity to work with Next Generation 911 (NG911), Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), 911 Voice Logging, and Law Enforcement Records Management Systems (LERMS) in a secure environment. The role is based in Crystal City, VA and requires daily on-site work within a secured facility. The ideal candidate will have experience in telecommunications systems, a strong understanding of emergency management technologies and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues. Relevant certifications are prioritized over formal education, with the ability to maintain a DoD clearance.

 

Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and sustain NG911 solutions and related emergency management technologies (CAD, LERMS, etc.).
  • Assist in troubleshooting network, telephony, and system application issues, providing direct support to the customer.
  • Configure and manage client and server operating systems within a virtualized infrastructure (VMWare or similar).
  • Escalate complex issues to higher-tier support teams when necessary.
  • Track and resolve customer issues via ticketing systems, ensuring resolution within Service Level Agreement (SLA) parameters.
  • Ensure all system issues are properly documented and provide prompt, accurate feedback to customers.
  • Maintain strong professional relationships and effectively communicate technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
  • Working knowledge of NG911, CAD systems, 911 Voice Logging, and Law Enforcement Records Management.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Experience working with Ethernet and VoIP, including protocols such as SIP, RTP, and H.232.
  • Understanding of data network and telecommunications systems, including IP addressing (DNS, DHCP), VLANs, VPN, and SIP session management.
  • Familiarity with secure telecommunications environments and protocols required for emergency systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical personnel.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Visio) for documentation and reporting.
Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of 911 systems and Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs).
  • Knowledge of desktop Windows systems and basic troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with VMware ESXi or similar virtualization platforms.
  • Familiarity with Cisco Systems and relevant certifications (a plus).
  • Reasonable understanding of DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF), cyber-security standards (STIGs, Scans, JITC) and secure network design.
 
Qualifications:
  • Due to the requirement, U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Minimum DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE) is required within 90 days of starting. If the applicant has other complimentary knowledge but is lacking this certification LBO Technology is willing to fund a bootcamp program. The applicant must obtain and maintain the minimum 8570 IAT LII certification.
  • 3-5 years of experience in telecommunications, IT systems, or networking, particularly in a DoD or secured environment.
